Tiny Trails Cloud Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 15, 2026
Who we are and what this covers
Tiny Trails is run by its developer, Kermit Strachan. For anything in this policy, email kc.strachan@gmail.com. In this policy, "we" means Tiny Trails and "you" means the parent or caregiver using it.
Tiny Trails is a picture-schedule app for young children. Grown-ups set it up, and children use the play screen. This policy covers Tiny Trails Cloud at cloud.tinytrailsapp.com, the paid version that stores your family's trails online so you can use them on more than one device and share them with other caregivers. The free app at tinytrailsapp.com has its own policy.
Information we collect
Tiny Trails Cloud stores the information below so it can work across devices.
| What | Examples | Who provides it | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grown-up account | Email address and password. If you sign in with Google, the name and email Google shares with us. | You | To create and secure your account |
| Child profile | Your child's first name or nickname, age group (toddler, preschool, early elementary, older), an optional profile picture, and an optional emergency contact | You | To show the right trails to the right child |
| Trails | Step names, pictures, photos you upload, voice prompts you record, and timer settings | You | To build and play trails |
| Progress | Which steps were finished or skipped and when, whether a voice prompt played, and whether a timer ran over | Created when your child taps steps | To save progress and show you how routines are going |
| Caregiver sharing | The email address and role of a caregiver you invite, and a record of who has access to each child profile | You | To let other caregivers use your trails |
| Waitlist sign-up | Your email, the plan you said you'd pick, which trail you'd make first (optional), whether you're a parent, caregiver, or therapist or teacher, your confirmation that you're 18 or older, and the tag on the link you arrived from, if it had one | You | To tell you when Tiny Trails Cloud opens, and to learn which prices families prefer |
| Web request details | IP address, browser type and time, seen by our host when a page loads | Your browser, automatically | To deliver the app and keep it secure |
We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking tools in Tiny Trails Cloud.
The Cloud app also keeps a copy of your trails on your device so it works offline.
Children's privacy
Tiny Trails is made for children under 13, so we follow the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Only a parent or legal guardian can create a Tiny Trails Cloud account or a child profile. Children never sign up, sign in, or type in their own information.
What we collect about children. Only what's listed in the table above: a first name or nickname, an age group, photos or voice recordings a grown-up adds, and the record of which steps were done. A photo or recording counts as a child's personal information if it shows the child's face or includes their voice. The waitlist never asks about your child.
Parental permission. Tiny Trails Cloud isn't open to families yet. Before it opens, we'll add a step that asks for your permission and confirms you are the parent before anything about your child is stored, and we'll email you a notice that explains what we collect and links to this policy.
What we never do with children's information.
- We never show ads to children or use their information for advertising.
- We never sell it.
- We never share it with anyone except the service providers listed below, who help run the app.
- We never ask a child for more information than the trail needs.
Your rights as a parent. At any time you can:
- See the information we have about your child
- Ask us to delete it
- Tell us to stop collecting or using it
To do any of these, email kc.strachan@gmail.com from the email on your account. We'll handle it within 30 days. If you stop future collection, Tiny Trails Cloud won't work for that child, but the free app will.
How we use information
We use information only to run Tiny Trails:
- Create and secure your account
- Save, sync and show your trails on your devices
- Let caregivers you invite see the trails you share
- Answer your questions and send account messages, such as a password reset
- Send Tiny Trails news, only if you signed up for it
- Keep the service secure and fix problems
We don't sell your information or your child's. We don't use it for ads, and we don't build profiles of you or your child. We don't track you across other websites, so browser "Do Not Track" signals don't change anything here.
Who we share it with
We share information only with companies that host and run Tiny Trails for us. They may use it only to provide their service to us.
| Company | What it does for us | What it handles |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, sign-in, and photo and audio storage | Account, child profile, trail, progress, caregiver and waitlist information |
| Vercel | Hosts Tiny Trails Cloud | Standard web request details |
| Sign-in, only if you choose "Continue with Google" | Your Google sign-in |
Your information is stored in the United States.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of a child or anyone else. If Tiny Trails is ever sold or merged, we'll tell you first, and the new owner must follow this policy for information we already have.
How long we keep it
We keep information only as long as we need it to run Tiny Trails for you. This is our data retention policy:
| Information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Child profiles, trails, photos, voice prompts and progress | While your account is open. When you delete an item, we permanently erase it within 30 days. |
| Your whole account | Until you ask us to delete it. |
| Caregiver invitations | Until accepted, withdrawn or expired. The owner chooses whether an invitation lasts 1, 7 or 30 days. We erase it 30 days after it's accepted, withdrawn or expires. |
| Waitlist sign-ups | Until you ask us to delete it, or 12 months after Tiny Trails Cloud launches, whichever comes first. |
| Web request details at our host | Vercel handles them under its own privacy policy. |
How to delete. Email kc.strachan@gmail.com from the email on your account and tell us what to delete: one child's information or your whole account. The owner of a child profile can also remove it in the app, which deletes that child's trails, steps and pictures.
Security, your rights, and changes
Security. We limit who can see your information. All connections use encryption (HTTPS). In Tiny Trails Cloud, only caregivers you've given access to a child profile can see it. Photos and recordings open through private links that expire after one hour. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we'll tell you as the law requires.
Your rights. You can ask to see, correct, download or delete your information, or your child's. California residents can ask what personal information we collect, use and share. We don't sell or share personal information for ads. To make a request, email kc.strachan@gmail.com. We'll handle it within 30 days. We won't treat you differently for making one.
Changes to this policy. If we change it, we'll update the effective date at the top. For big changes, we'll email account holders before they take effect. We'll ask for your permission again before we collect or use your child's information in a new way.
